Battle-Ready Round Shield “STAHLBLÜTE” in Wood with Steel Fittings

The round shield “STAHLBLÜTE” combines a robust wooden construction with a particularly striking arrangement of numerous steel fittings. Its name is inspired by the symmetrical design spreading out around the central shield boss, creating the appearance of a stylised metal flower.

At the centre is a domed steel shield boss. Besides forming the visual focal point of the shield, the boss is a characteristic construction element of historically inspired round shields.

Several leaf-shaped steel fittings and curved metal bands are arranged around the central boss. Together they form a distinctive, almost floral pattern. Additional raised decorative elements add further detail and give the metalwork a more three-dimensional appearance.

The entire outer rim is also reinforced with riveted steel fittings. The contrast between the dark wooden surface and the bright metal decoration gives “STAHLBLÜTE” its unmistakable appearance.

The reverse is covered with fabric. A steel fist grip is positioned behind the central shield boss. The grip is padded and wrapped in suede to provide a more comfortable and secure hold.

“STAHLBLÜTE” is designed as a battle-ready round shield and is particularly suitable for corresponding historical portrayals and reenactment. Its unusual metal decoration also makes it a striking display piece for medieval and Viking-inspired equipment, collections, exhibitions and historical settings.
