Sword Scabbard “ASKEL” – with Leather Belt and Decorative Bronze Buckle
The sword scabbard “ASKEL” is an elaborately crafted scabbard for Viking swords, combining a sturdy construction with decorative Norse-inspired details. It is available in two different lengths and can be used both with the intended Viking reenactment swords and with other blades of comparable dimensions.
Wooden Core with Genuine Leather Covering
The scabbard has a sturdy wooden core covered in genuine leather. A steel chape protects and decorates the lower end, while the opening of the scabbard measures approximately 4.5 cm in width.
The combination of wood, leather and steel gives the scabbard a robust and traditional appearance that complements Viking Age and early medieval-inspired equipment.
Heavy Leather Sword Belt
A sturdy sword belt made from approximately 3 mm thick leather is included. It is decoratively attached to the scabbard and embellished with distinctive cross-stitch detailing.
Numerous adjustment holes allow the belt to be adapted to different sizes and wearing styles. Fully extended, it measures approximately 205 cm and consists of a long strap of approximately 175 cm and a short strap of approximately 30 cm.
Bronze Buckle with Serpent and Dragon Motif
A particularly striking feature is the decorative bronze buckle. Its shape resembles two intertwined serpents or dragons and incorporates an ornamental knotwork design. Animal and interlace motifs of this kind are recurring elements in Norse and Viking Age art.
Together with the cross-stitch decoration and steel chape, the buckle gives “ASKEL” its distinctive appearance. The scabbard is therefore well suited to reenactment, living history, medieval markets, historical costumes, theatre, photography and film productions.
Two Lengths Available
The “ASKEL” sword scabbard is available in short and long versions. The short model is intended for blades up to approximately 64 cm long, while the long version accommodates blades up to approximately 74 cm long.
Both versions are intended for blades measuring no more than approximately 4 cm in width and 4 mm in thickness. As blade geometry can vary even when dimensions are similar, the measurements of the individual sword should be carefully compared before use.

Compatibility
The short version is designed for the previously described short Viking reenactment swords with blades measuring approximately 64 cm. The long version is intended for the corresponding models with approximately 74 cm blades.
The scabbard can also be used with other swords of similar dimensions. Blade length, width and thickness should always be checked carefully to ensure compatibility.
