Viking Sword “RAGNAR” – Sharpened 9th- and 10th-Century Interpretation
The Viking sword “RAGNAR” by Cold Steel® draws inspiration from the characteristic Norse swords of the 9th and 10th centuries. Historical examples typically featured long, broad, double-edged blades with a wide central fuller.
The blade geometry of these swords was primarily suited to powerful cutting and chopping techniques. Their points tended to be comparatively rounded while remaining sufficiently pointed for thrusting. A simple forward-curving guard, practical grip and substantial pommel created the characteristic profile of this type of Viking Age sword.
Hand-Forged 1060 Carbon Steel Blade
Cold Steel® interprets this historical form with a hand-forged, double-edged blade made from 1060 carbon steel. The blade is polished by hand and both cutting edges are supplied fully sharpened.
The broad blade and Nordic-inspired construction reflect key characteristics of the historical style. Because this version is sharpened, it is not intended for reenactment combat, stage fighting or direct blade-to-blade contact.
Five-Lobed Pommel and Traditional Knotwork
The grip has a wooden core wrapped in leather. It is framed by a simple, slightly forward-curving guard and a distinctive five-lobed pommel.
Both the guard and pommel feature traditional knotwork decoration, giving the sword a distinctly Nordic appearance while retaining the straightforward character of its historical inspiration.
Leather-Covered Wooden Scabbard Included
A matching leather-covered wooden scabbard is included with the sword. Its throat and chape are made from polished steel, complementing the metal components of the hilt.

Care Instructions
1060 carbon steel is not stainless. Protect the blade from moisture and clean and thoroughly dry it after handling or use. Regularly applying a thin coat of suitable weapon or maintenance oil will help protect the steel surface against corrosion. The sword should not be stored in a damp scabbard for extended periods.
