Viking Long Seax “HROLF” with Damascus Blade and Leather Sheath
The Viking long seax “HROLF” is an impressive interpretation of the long, single-edged seax knives used throughout early medieval Europe. Its fully sharpened Damascus steel blade is combined with a traditional wooden grip and elaborately crafted Viking-style metal fittings.
The guard and pommel are particularly striking. Inspired by Viking Age designs, they combine alternating layers of brass and steel. Their polished surfaces provide an attractive contrast to the characteristic pattern of the Damascus blade.
Damascus steel is produced by combining and forge-welding different layers of steel. The manufacturing process creates the distinctive pattern for which Damascus blades are renowned. The visible pattern can vary slightly from one blade to another, giving each piece an individual appearance.
The long seax comes with a sturdy leather sheath inspired by historical carrying arrangements. It features suspension rings, an embossed edge reinforcement and decorative brass fittings that complement the appearance of the weapon.
With its sharp Damascus blade and elaborate sheath, “HROLF” is particularly suitable for collectors of historically inspired edged weapons and as an impressive display piece.
