Viking Sword “HEDMARK” – SK-B Reenactment Sword Based on a Norwegian Find
The Viking sword “HEDMARK” is modelled after a historical sword from Hedmark in Norway dating to the late 9th century. The original is preserved at the Historical Museum in Oslo. This version combines the characteristic appearance of the historical model with an unsharpened blade designed for reenactment use.
Norwegian Model from the Late 9th Century
The sword reproduces the characteristic form of the Hedmark find. Its straight, double-edged blade features a broad fuller, while the wide pommel gives the hilt the distinctive silhouette associated with this type of sword.
Unsharpened Carbon Steel Blade
The double-edged blade is made from carbon steel and is explicitly supplied unsharpened. A broad fuller runs along the blade and contributes to its characteristic historical appearance.
This model is the reenactment-ready version of the Viking sword and is classified as SK-B.
Steel Hilt with Peened Pommel
Both the guard and pommel are made from steel. The broad pommel characteristic of this type of Viking sword is securely peened in place. The grip is wrapped with leather cord, completing the sword's restrained and functional appearance.
Leather-Covered Scabbard
A matching scabbard is included. It consists of a wooden core covered in leather and features a steel chape at the lower end.
A wooden bracket serves as the belt loop and accommodates belts up to approximately 5 cm wide.
