Suontaka Viking Sword – inspired by a historical find from Finland
The Suontaka Viking Sword is based on an extraordinary archaeological find from Finland. The original sword was discovered in a woman’s grave dating to around 1100 AD, although the sword’s shape suggests an earlier origin in the 10th century.
This Windlass reconstruction stands out through its elaborate decorative details. The pommel, guard, grip band and inlays feature intricate Nordic knotwork fully coated in copper, giving the sword a particularly refined appearance.
The robust blade is forged from 1085 carbon steel and features a full tang construction. It is fully hardened and securely peened to the pommel. The classic double-edged blade closely follows the form of historical Viking swords from the High Middle Ages.
The sword comes complete with a matching leather scabbard decorated with copper fittings and accents.
This sword is ideal as a collector’s piece, decorative display item or prop for Viking and medieval reenactment.
