Ashdown Viking Sword – inspired by the Battle of Ashdown
This Viking sword by Windlass is inspired by the weapons used during the Battle of Ashdown in 871 AD. In this decisive conflict, the future King Alfred the Great led the army of Wessex against a Danish invasion force.
The blade is forged from carbon steel and features an extra broad fuller that reduces weight while emphasizing the characteristic shape of early medieval swords. The double-edged blade gives the sword a powerful yet elegant appearance.
The guard is decorated with raised knotwork inspired by Nordic and Anglo-Saxon designs. Both the guard and pommel are made of steel with a dark forged finish. The wooden grip is covered in soft leather for comfortable handling.
The sword comes complete with a matching leather scabbard including belt.
The Ashdown sword is ideal as a collector’s piece, decorative display item or prop for Viking and medieval reenactment.
