Early Medieval Dress Gudrun – Red/Blue
The Gudrun dress is an early medieval overdress featuring a loose cut and slightly flared 3/4 sleeves. Side gores inserted from the waist downward provide generous hem width and freedom of movement.
The contrasting color details emphasize its character as an outer garment. The neckline includes a small slit at the back, closed with a button.
The design is inspired by archaeological finds such as the “Lady of Asseln” (6th century) and early medieval depictions like the Stuttgart Psalter (9th century). Long outer garments, simple geometric construction and contrasting trims are typical for this period.
Made from 100% cotton, the dress offers comfortable wear and is traditionally combined with a leather belt.
Ideal for representations of Viking, Lombard, Merovingian or Frankish attire.
