Viking Sword Petersen Type H – SK-B battle-ready sword
This battle-ready Viking sword is inspired by historical finds from Birka in Sweden and follows the style of 9th and 10th century swords classified as Petersen Type H/I.
The sword was developed in cooperation with martial arts instructor Volker Kunkel with the goal of creating a robust, balanced and affordable Viking reenactment sword suitable for both beginners and experienced fighters.
The blade is forged from spring steel, oil hardened and heat treated. Its wide fuller reduces weight while improving flexibility and balance. For safe reenactment combat, the blade features blunt edges measuring approx. 2 to 2.5 mm and a rounded tip.
Like many surviving historical originals, the characteristic triangular pommel features a two-piece construction. The leather-wrapped wooden grip provides secure handling and an authentic Viking appearance.
The sword is available in two blade lengths, with the shorter version being especially suitable as an entry-level reenactment sword.
